What is the motivate difference?

I have worked for over 20 years as an Occupational Therapist for:

  • Large private clinics

  • Schools

  • Hospitals and home health

  • Law firms as an expert witness

  • Professional training sessions

  • Group social skills classes

I have seen the struggles, constraints, as well as the benefits of working with such organizations. It was heartbreaking to see kids labeled when actually so many times they are just misunderstood. I saw parents feeling lonely in their diagnoses, or lack of diagnoses, and desperate for ways to connect with their children. What I found is that more than anything, parents needed a road map, strategies, and practical solutions for empowering their children.

Motivate is different than traditional occupational therapy because my primary goal is validating a parent’s concern, investigating the situation, and providing a framework for parents and their children to be connected.

What are focus sessions?

Focus Sessions are used to discuss 1-2 parenting challenges and come up with practical solutions to create a more connected family.

I can discuss any and all kid related questions for all members of the family! Dad or co-parent are welcome on the Zoom as well!

Do you also offer direct one-to-one therapy sessions?

Amanda does offer direct one-to-one sessions on a case-by-case basis. If you are interested in exploring a direct one-to-one session use the contact page to send a request.

How quickly can we except to see a difference in our childs behavior?

Progress is continual, and can vary from child to child. But I think change is immediate, because it’s a change in perspective. A change from feeling lost, to understanding your child’s needs. A change from feeling rudderless, to having a road map with achievable goals. A change from feeling like you’re the only one who can’t connect with your kid, to feeling empowered and connected parenting.

How many sessions do you recommend?

I recommend my complimentary call to determine your needs, but typically parents choose the package of 3.
